Instavolt | Wigan Gower Street
For Instavolt, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, we aided the installation of an electric vehicle charging hub to the client’s high satisfaction.
The objective was to enhance the site’s energy capacity to support the installation of new EV chargers, requiring a reliable and robust electrical connection solution.
The scope involved the installation of a new 276kVA power supply by laying 300mm² WF cable from the Point of Connection (POC) to the site and terminating it into a Heavy-Duty Cut-Out (HDCO) unit.
• Liaising closely with the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) and Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) to follow the correct POC procedures.
• Coordinating the entire design submission process, with careful consideration of the site's load requirements and constraints.
• Successfully securing design approvals from both the DNO and IDNO for the necessary infrastructure and capacity.
• Installing a new 300mm² waveform cable from the POC directly to the site.
• Terminating the cable into an HDCO, which served as the primary protective and metering point for the system.
This tailored solution ensured the EV chargers at the Wigan Gower Street location received a reliable and sufficient power supply, fully compliant with regulatory and safety standards.
The enhanced electrical infrastructure now provides up to 276kVA capacity, supporting Instavolt’s commitment to expanding the UK’s fast-charging network. The client was delighted with Serconnect’s technical expertise, project management, and quality of service throughout the project.
